So let's go back to March 22, 2021….THE DAY OF DISGUST.
At this point in my life, I wore ONE outfit to EVERYTHING, client, store, etc. I did not go anywhere or do anything except for my business. I enjoyed the COVID quarantine as it made my isolation normal. I wore black leggings, size XXL that usually had holes in the upper thighs from my legs rubbing together, a very large sports bra holding up an uncomfortably large chest, a man’s black elongated tee shirt size XXL. I felt frumpy and so very large!! I was intimidated to go into a gym which is ridiculous because I needed to get in shape and that is what you do that at the gym. I put on the “outfit” and headed down to Anytime Fitness Point Loma.
When I reached AF I was greeted by Sabrina Decker. She was so nice and ingratiating that I almost forgot that I was as large as I was. I started feeling a little less intimidated. After touring the gym, I followed Sabrina to the office to go over membership plans. Sitting next to me was a man with a kicking body looking at his I-Pad. Sabrina introduced him as Will King. He was just as ingratiating as Sabrina and I felt better about being there. Sabrina explained my options and I opted for a membership and with 5 training sessions. Sabrina then said, “I am going to pair you with Will, I think that you will be a good fit. Then the fear set it, I thought, “OMG that Adonis is going to touch my fat when he measures me”. Yikes!!!
DK measured me without making me feel uncomfortable and he also had to put me on the scale. We joked that I was relieved that I did not weigh more than him!! (Thank God he was bulking instead of cutting-which I will explain in the next blog-or I would have weighed more than him. LOL.) DK (Dr. King) turned out to be respectful, kind, funny, approachable and knowledgeable. He put me at ease and for some reason inspired me to start this adventure to results!!
The next day March 23rd, my adventure began and I started my training, a workout schedule and modifying my food intake. Let’s remember that even though I started to change the outside I was still negative inside. For example, one day during training DK and I were talking about things I could put into my diet to keep the weight loss going. DK suggested Green Tea, of course I said, “I don’t like Green Tea”, he looked at me and said, “but you like RESULTS”? I looked at him and we just started laughing. He took it one step further and said that there are two things, EXCUSES or RESULTS. That was the day that my negative attitude stared to change. From that day forward we talked about everything in the terms of excuses or results. I knew then that I had met the coach that would inspire me to the results I wanted. Going back to May 19, 2013 I was fit and had me in a bikini as a screen saver on my phone. I showed DK the pic and he said that we would be replacing that picture with something better and current.
This adventure has everything that makes a good story…ups, downs and all arounds. As my adventure continues, I will lead you through all the good and bad and most important, CHANGE and going towards the uncomfortable to keep things fresh, never stagnant!!! Next we will go into the emotions of bulking. Talk about an uncomfortable challenge!!
